Branded regional context image; no customer, sponsor, installation or partnership is implied.R-290 is a natural propane refrigerant with very low global-warming potential and zero ozone-depletion potential. Purpose-designed systems can support efficient cooling, with actual energy use depending on the equipment and operating conditions. Ask Cooler Lease about R-290-equipped options; availability and suitability are confirmed for the assigned unit.
Start here
- Tell Cooler Lease if R-290 compliant refrigerant systems are required or preferred.
- Identify whether the request is for a cooler, freezer, combination trailer or modular cold-storage format.
- Ask for the assigned unit's refrigerant, labeling and operating requirements when they matter to procurement or compliance.
- Do not assume every unit in a mixed fleet uses the same refrigerant.
Facts to confirm before dispatch
- Assigned-unit refrigerant confirmation
- Equipment label and documentation needs
- Temperature set point and product requirements
- Electrical service, generator and site-readiness requirements
- Who may service or modify refrigeration equipment
- Facility policy, safety and procurement documentation
Knowledge base FAQ
Is R-290 an eco-friendly refrigerant?
Its specific environmental benefits are very low global-warming potential and zero ozone-depletion potential. Those properties can reduce the climate impact of refrigerant emissions compared with higher-GWP alternatives. They do not make an entire rental impact-free: electricity, transport, refrigerant charge and leakage also matter.
Does R-290 improve energy efficiency?
R-290 can support energy-efficient cooling in equipment designed for it. Savings depend on the complete system and operating conditions, including insulation, ambient temperature, set point and door activity. Compare model-specific energy data under comparable conditions; there is no guaranteed fleet-wide savings percentage.
Do Cooler Lease rentals use R-290 compliant refrigerant?
Select or specially configured equipment may use R-290 compliant refrigerant systems. Cooler Lease confirms the assigned unit's refrigerant, labeling, service requirements and operating limits when relevant to the rental.
Is every Cooler Lease rental unit R-290?
No blanket refrigerant claim is made across every unit. Fleet equipment can vary by model, configuration and availability. Ask for confirmation on the assigned unit if refrigerant type matters to the project.
What is R-290 refrigerant?
R-290 is propane used as a refrigerant in equipment specifically designed, labeled, installed and serviced for it under applicable requirements.
Is R-290 the same as Freon?
No. R-290 is propane refrigerant. It is not the same chemical as refrigerants commonly associated with the Freon brand name.
Can I request R-290 compliant cold storage?
Yes. Include the requirement in the CoolerQuote request. Cooler Lease will review whether suitable R-290-equipped equipment is available and appropriate for the site, temperature requirement, power plan and rental dates.
Who can service R-290 refrigeration equipment?
Only properly qualified personnel should service refrigeration equipment, and R-290 systems must be handled according to the equipment label, applicable codes, safety requirements and manufacturer guidance.
