Cooler Lease care guide

Refrigerated trailer operation and walk-in cooler cleaning

Practical care for your mobile cooler, freezer or combination rental—from delivery setup through daily use and return.

Before delivery: stable placement and clear access

Provide a firm, level, load-bearing location suitable for the loaded trailer, safe vehicle access and any required permissions. Cooler Lease confirms placement, stabilization and ramp access at delivery. A concrete slab is not a universal requirement for trailer rentals; the actual site and applicable local requirements determine suitability.

Keep the condenser’s air intake, exhaust and service area unobstructed. Position the unit away from building exhaust, intake openings and other heat sources using the assigned manufacturer’s clearances. Do not assume a universal three-foot or six-foot clearance. Generator exhaust requires a separate safe placement plan and must never enter the trailer or occupied buildings.

Cooler Lease Dual Door™ ramp access and equipment security

Every rental trailer includes an ultra-heavy-duty fold-down ramp and a separate inner cooler door. When closed and secured as instructed, the outer ramp door adds a second barrier at the cooler entrance. Keep required exit paths clear and never secure the outer door in a way that could trap anyone inside.

One chock is provided for every tire. Keep the complete set correctly positioned at all times while parked or deployed—no exceptions. Only Cooler Lease or its authorized provider may direct removal during movement or service; replace chocks immediately afterward. Intentional unauthorized removal is grounds for immediate termination without refund under the rental agreement and applicable law.

Keep the ramp dry, clear and within its posted load rating. Do not tow or relocate the trailer or change its leveling equipment. Secure access and promptly report theft, damage or missing equipment. No modifications or attachments of any kind are authorized inside or outside the trailer.

Electrical supply: verify the actual rental unit

Before connection, a qualified electrician must verify voltage, phase, frequency, available amperage, grounding, protective devices and the correct plug for the Cooler Lease electrical module. Follow the unit nameplate and supplied connection sheet. Do not use unapproved adapters, cables, generators or wiring changes.

No fleet-wide voltage range is published here. Compressor-terminal limits are equipment-specific and are not instructions for customers to open electrical enclosures or take live measurements. Cooler Lease provides the assigned unit’s requirements during scheduling. Maintain continuous approved power and monitor outages and product temperatures throughout storage.

Circuit breakers and safe shutdown

Required protective breakers must be in their prescribed operating position for equipment to run. Do not use a circuit breaker as a routine on/off switch. Start and stop cooling only through the operating controls and procedure supplied for that unit. Some systems require a pump-down sequence before power isolation; interrupting that sequence or restarting too soon can damage the compressor.

For planned shutdown or cleaning, contact Cooler Lease if you have not been trained on the correct procedure. Never repeatedly reset a breaker that trips, bypass a control, alter wiring or open electrical panels. If there is smoke, arcing, electric shock or another immediate hazard, keep people away, follow emergency isolation procedures and call emergency services when appropriate. Do not delay emergency action to wait for pump-down.

Lighting, defrost and daily temperature checks

Interior LED lighting is prewired and uses the supplied occupancy controls; customers must not add electrical connections. Defrost settings depend on the assigned refrigeration system. Do not change schedules, timers or service settings. Verify the requested storage temperature before loading and keep airflow paths open. The displayed air temperature does not replace product-temperature checks or your food-safety procedure.

Cleaning do’s for refrigerated trailer rentals

  • Protect or transfer stored goods before cleaning and maintain their required temperatures.
  • Use the assigned unit’s approved shutdown procedure. Before wet cleaning, have power safely isolated as instructed; only authorized personnel may perform work requiring electrical access or lockout.
  • Use soft cloths and approved, nonabrasive cleaning products compatible with the unit’s surfaces. Follow dilution, contact time, rinsing and protective-equipment instructions on the label.
  • Remove loose debris, clean accessible surfaces, keep water out of components and dry the floor thoroughly to reduce slips.
  • Keep door seals clean and report tears, leaks, unusual odors or contamination. Restore power only under the supplied procedure and verify storage temperature before reloading.

Cleaning don’ts: protect coils, wiring and surfaces

  • Do not use bleach or ammonia inside the unit. Do not mix cleaning chemicals.
  • Do not pressure-wash or hose down electrical controls, lighting, sensors, fans or refrigeration assemblies.
  • Do not scrub coils, bend fins, remove guards or attempt refrigeration repairs.
  • Do not use abrasive pads, solvents or unapproved chemicals that can damage finishes or seals.
  • Do not treat cleaning as permission to modify controls, wiring, fixtures or the trailer. Isolating power does not authorize customer repairs.

Our 10-step Clean & Ready sanitation process applies after every completed rental. Customer housekeeping during use remains part of the rental responsibilities.

Operating and cleaning questions

Can I switch a refrigerated trailer off at the circuit breaker?

Do not use circuit breakers for routine starting or stopping. Follow the assigned unit’s control and shutdown instructions, including pump-down when required. For an immediate electrical or fire hazard, prioritize life safety and emergency isolation.

What voltage does my cooler rental need?

Use the voltage, phase, frequency, connector and circuit protection specified for the assigned unit. A qualified electrician must verify the supply. Another manufacturer’s voltage table is not approval to connect a Cooler Lease trailer.

Can I use bleach or ammonia inside a rental cooler?

No. Cooler Lease prohibits bleach and ammonia inside rental units because incompatible chemicals can damage surfaces and refrigeration components. Use only the cleaner and sanitizer approved for the assigned unit and follow the product label.

Can I attach signs or shelving to the trailer?

No modifications or attachments are authorized inside or outside the unit. Do not drill, screw, weld, paint, use adhesives or install fixtures. Ask Cooler Lease about configuration needs before delivery.
